The Kromer 7211-01 is a tool retractor for tools weighing 1.1-4.4 lb - for example electric screwdrivers or small inline drivers - and works equally with any other tool in that weight range. A retractor is not a zero-gravity balancer: retraction force increases as the cable is pulled out, so the tool comes to hand easily and then returns to its initial position when released - keeping it off the bench and out of the way between operations.

No locking mechanism on the 7211; the ratchet-lock version is the Type 7212.
