Tool Positioners

A tool positioner holds a suspended load at whatever height you set it. An adjustable friction brake - not a spring - takes the weight, so the load stays exactly where you leave it: pull it down to working height, do the job, then push it back up out of the way and it holds there. Typically used for supply units that need to be within reach some of the time and clear of the work area the rest - control panels, power drops, air lines, network connections, and water lines.

Our positioners are the German-made Kromer 5250, in three braking-force ranges - 1.1-6.6 lb, 1.1-13.2 lb, and 4.4-15.4 lb - each with 4.9 ft of cable travel, an anti-fall device, and an electrically insulated body. Unlike a balancer or retractor, which pull the load back up when released, a positioner simply holds position. For weight relief instead, see tool balancers; to have a tool retract clear of the work, see tool retractors. Supported in the USA by Tool Balancers USA.
