The TECNA 9506 is a zero-gravity tool balancer for loads weighing 132-154 lb. At this capacity the balancer is carrying the entire weight of a heavy powered tool, so the operator is only guiding it.

Zero-gravity means the load stays wherever you leave it instead of returning to a rest position - let go at mid-height and the tool simply hangs there, weightless to the operator. Cable travel is 6.9 ft (2,100 mm) and capacity is adjustable across 132-154 lb (60-70 kg), set with a worm screw. The load is carried by a spring drum inside, which is why balancers like this are also called spring balancers.

It has a manual lock to hold the load at any height: turn the knob to the locked position to stop the drum, and back for normal working. For safety the shutter only releases when it lines up with the drum, so if it does not free straight away, move the load slightly up and down. Only operate the lock with the load hanging.

If the drum spring ever breaks, a safety device blocks the balancer so the load cannot fall. If it trips, do not try to free it - have the balancer serviced.

Size it on the total hanging weight - the tool, its accessories and the length of hose or cable the balancer lifts - which has to sit inside the capacity range. Electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools all suspend the same way.

Extension cables are available if the balancer has to hang higher than the load needs to reach: 1.6 ft (500 mm, 72969/0,5), 3.3 ft (1,000 mm, 72969/1), 8.2 ft (2,500 mm, 72969/2,5), 9.8 ft (3,000 mm, 72969/3) and 16.4 ft (5,000 mm, 72969/5), stainless steel 5 mm cable with a 100 mm carabiner.

Options for this model: Option B (7190000007) is the lock and unlock control you work from floor level, for a balancer mounted out of reach. On this series it is a separate part and can be added at any time. Option RI is TECNA 70477, the insulated rotary hook: it electrically insulates the hanging load - welding gear, for instance - and lets the tool turn without twisting the cable. Option F is the friction brake on the drum, fitted at the factory when the balancer is built - that is the TECNA 9506.F.

The structure you hang it from has to be stronger than five times the balancer weight plus the maximum load - and if several balancers share one structure, five times the total of all of them, each on its own independent connection point. Always connect the safety suspension to a separate support, and set the stroke limiter so the load never comes to rest above the operator.

Made in Italy, to DIN 15112. Breaking load is guaranteed at a minimum of five times the declared maximum load on every sensitive part. Every production lot is sample-tested too: a static test at 1.25 times the maximum rated load held for ten minutes at full stroke, and a dynamic test at 1.1 times maximum load run for an hour.

Cable travel is the working stroke - how far the tool itself has to travel through the job, not how high the balancer hangs. If you need more of it at this capacity, the TECNA 9525 is the same capacity with 8.9 ft of travel. If the balancer simply hangs high above the work, an extension cable is the cheaper answer - the travel you need is set by the work.
