The Kromer 7221-01 is a tool retractor for tools weighing 4.4-11 lb - for example drills, small nutrunners or riveting tools - and works equally with any other tool in that weight range. A retractor is not a zero-gravity balancer: retraction force increases as the cable is pulled out, so the tool comes to hand easily and then returns to its initial position when released - keeping it off the bench and out of the way between operations.

No ratchet lock on the 7221; the automatic-locking version is the Type 7222.
